Missing "settings" window |
When opening the aliases window, there are usually two parts - the top part is the list of aliases (or triggers, or whatever), and there's usually a window below this called "settings", which allows the user to input information such as the patterns and values. I just realized that this window is missing, when I tried to input a new alias. I -can- create an alias by editing directly into the alias list, though this is troublesome. How can I get it back?
Any help would be much appreciated - I've tried restarting and all that. Using version 7.05. |

Right-click on an existing setting and select Edit. This should bring up the Edit window portion. Next redock it into the Settings window and then you are back to having a Settings Editor window.

I tried that, but it doesn't bring up everything - it reduces the "highlight" of the window to suggest that it's now in the background, but nothing comes up in front. Selecting edit just lets me change the alias directly in the list.

Ok, well try this...Oddly it worked for me.
I purposely closed the Edit portion to see what would get it back.
I then dbl clicked on an item to edit, such as a trigger...The results was just the edit portion. I then Maximized the Settings Editor and then clicked the dbl box that restores down and viala. It was back the way it was.
Hope that helps.

What is probaly happening is you have a stay on top window over where the edit window should be. uncheck EVERY pin_icon you see (top row before the minimize button) make your settings window smaller and then click edit and it should pop up.
Failing this a few other things to try (not sure which is the correct one but neither of these will stop zmud from running)
1. delete the .lay file for you char if that doesn't work
2. delete the settings.dok and if that doesn't work
3. delete the zmud.ini file |

I tried all of those - still nothing. I installed a new copy of zMUD - this worked to start with, but I couldn't copy my settings over, so I don't know how to save what I've done. When I did copy the old settings over, the same problem occurred, -but- deleting the settings files didn't fix it on either the old or new versions.
I'm totally baffled as to why this is happening. |

Close zMUD.
Go to your zMUD directory and find the zmud.ini file.
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF zmud.ini
Right-click on the zmud.ini file and Open it, using Notepad.
Find the [Settings] section.
Find the Dockable value, set it to 1.
Find the Docked value, set it to 1.
Save, and close Notepad.
Open zMUD.
Open a blank window by pressing the ESC key.
Click the Triggers button and see if your problem is fixed.
If the problem remains, or a new one appears, delete the new zmud.ini and replace it from the backup. |

LightBulb, you're amazing. Setting the Docked value brought it back.
Thank you everyone who helped! Very much appreciated. |
