New character connects to old Host |
I'm creating a new Character on zMUD 7... Initially it connects to the host I put in the Host box in the Current Character Properties. But once I've told it that I want to use the settings from my old character (and actually share the same settings, with the same folder, map, layout and everything), when I connect to the new character it connects to the host that the old settings used, despite the host on the new character being different! It seems to be ignoring the Host! How do I fix this?

In the properties for the new character... click the 'lookup' button. zMud caches the IP address of the hostname, so I'm guessing that you're new character is actually going to the old IP address.

I tried that - you are correct in that it caches the IP address if I copy and paste the character, but I noticed that and already pressed lookup. I also started with a new character and changed the entries under files. So I can't see how it's getting the old hostname unless it's in my .mud file or in my .lay file.
Hmm, lets try unticking Use layout... Ah, that works! The hostname must be stored in the layout file and that overrides Character hostname! Seems like a bug to me... (I can't think of why anyone would want that.) And the layout file is in binary so I can't edit it. Oh well, I guess I'll have to start with a blank layout.
Thanks for your response. |

Edit the connection and remove/rename the layout path. You will have to recreate your layout but it should work.
[edit] Ok you figured this out yourself! |
