Help with Substitution

I am trying to abbreviate longer words such as broadsword to broad or even bro and wonder how I may do this. I've tried the #substitute , but it doesn't seem to work properly. Anyone have ideas?

#TAB broadsword will add broadsword to the tab completion list. If you then type bro+<tab>, the word will auto complete.
