When I open a session, it always is the silver default color. I have to go to Options->Color, than hit OK to get it switched back to what I have it made. However, when I close the session and open it again, it goes back to the silver default. And the Default session color box still has my custom color. I have also tried clean installs.

A. Did you try the "Set as Default" button? (Assuming you want this color for all sessions and not just this one.)
B. Are you running CMUD on Windows Vista with your data files in Program Files? You'll have troubles saving changes, if that's the case, and it's recommended you opt to save data files in My Games\CMUD instead.

It still does it after I have clicked on Set as default. And I'm on XP.

I don't have this problem, and I am using XP. What is showing up silver if the option still shows the color you set it as?

That looks like the Mud's colors. Do a #show on the command line and see if it is green.

#SHOW test shows in silver too

Is it just me or does that screenshot not look right. Any time I open a dialog in a program the button on the taskbar will show up beside the main application button or stacked on it. Your preferences button is all the way to the right while Cmud is the first on the left.

Anyway, try installing fresh see if that helps.

Mine does the same thing, but that is most likely due to the windows preference to group programs in the taskbar... i have heard that people doing a fresh install doesn't help the issue either. haven't tried it yet myself.

Note: You have to change your default color.

1. Open CMud
2. Close Session window
3. Option -> Color, put it to the color showing in picture

4. Click Set As Default
5. Type in #show test
6. Close the Untitled session
7. Close the session window again
8. Type #show test again, it should be in silver, instead of the green

Does this happen with anyone else?

Um yeah that's normal. You aren't changing the default color of your session. It isn't going to save anything for the untitled session. It's just like if you open an untitled session and create an alias or something. When you close Cmud and reopen an untitled session, the alias will not be there.

yes, this still happens to mine as well... have you tried a clean install? i have not yet done that... i just figured i would deal with it for now :(

It only changes back to silver on that specific green though. And I have tried a clean install.

There seems to be a bug with what is displayed when you open prefs and look at the default style. Try changing the color to anything else, apply that color, save your session, then go back in and change it to your green.

How do you guys get it's a bug? You can't set default prefs for your session by changing preferences in an untitled session. It doesn't make sense.

I don't know what you guys are doing, but I don't have these problems. I can change it to red or any color and it will change back to default silver regardless. However, if you change the default session color IN your session it should be saved as that color.

I guess I don't see what the problem is.

Even when the default Session color is saved as, for example, Lime on Black background, when I first open the mud, default text from the mud appears in the mud window as silver on back. Immediately after opening the session and connecting to the mud, I can go to Preferences > Styles > Default Session color, and the preferences will show Lime on Black. Meanwhile, the default text from the mud is still showing as silver on black, despite what the preferences say.

However, after I open the Styles display, and then receive a line from the mud, my mud output window begins showing Lime on Black for the default text, just like the preferences say it is supposed to be.

OK, I have looked into this, and I cannot find any way to make it fail. Here are the two tests that I used:

1) Create a new session called "Test". Open it Offline
2) Type "#SHOW testing" (without the quotes) and it displays in silver.
3) Go into Preferences/Styles/Default Session color and change it to Lime on Black.
4) Click Apply or OK. Notice the "testing" changes to green
5) Exit CMUD
6) Restart CMUD and load the Test session Offline
7) Type "#SHOW testing" and notice it is properly green

Test for setting default color:

1) Run CMUD and close the Session window, or open a session...doesn't matter.
2) Go into Preferences/Styles/Default Session color and change it to Lime on Black
3) Click the "Save as Default" button.
4) Exit CMUD and restart
5) Close the Session window to use the blank window
6) Type "#SHOW testing". It is properly displayed in green instead of silver.

My guess is that maybe your MUD is specifically sending the ESC[37m code to force the silver color to be set regardless of your CMUD default text color. But if someone can come up with another procedure to reproduce the problem, I'd love to hear it. If it only happens on your specific MUD, post the MUD hostname and port and I'll try connecting to it to see what it is sending to CMUD.

The lime color works fine for me as well. It seems to only happen to me when I change the color to that of the second image. But it does happen on any mud.

Your second image is too small for me to see the details of exactly what color you are selecting, so can you give me more instructions for this or post a bigger image?

Hue: 80, Sat: 240, Lum: 84, Red: 0, Green: 179, Blue: 0
