Random error... |
I launched ZMud, and all the sudden it closed and a message box popped up saying, "Cannot find dat file. (zmud.dat)"
I looked in ZMud folder and zmud.dat right next to the zmud exe, but it still doesn't recognize it. Is it supposed to be somewhere else, or can someone tell me why it's not reading it?
Thanks. |

Makes me sad, because I'm pretty sure this only an error with the old version, though I've never had it before... I kind of mean, if I upgraded, I probably wouldn't have this error, but I can't upgrade without paying again so I'm sticking with my out of date version....
P.S. It's version 7.04 |

I don't understand why you would need to pay again in order to upgrade, unless you're running a cracked, or otherwise illegal, version of zMUD.

You should be able to upgrade for free. See the zMUD 7.20 Upgrade Instructions link if you're having problems.
And, if for whatever reason you can't upgrade, the new version only costs $30 US. Save $1 a day for a month, 50¢ a day for 2 months, etc. It's not hard to get $30. You could sell your body fluids to earn the money! |

Slightly annoying when I post about one thing, and everybody who replies doesn't bother to address the issue. Thanks for the implication of either stupidity, or bad morals. I understand the methods of upgrading. I don't mean to come off rude, but have faith that I read everything and anything relating to ZMud (online documentation, documentation with the program, etc.) and found no answer. I do not have my registration code, and in my case, it is not retrievable. The email account I had it registered to was deleted. Due to an error with my own computer, I was unable to print out a receipt via the eLicense software.
Thank you, anyways. |

receipt.txt in your zmud folder has your registration code in it If you are using a legit version. Also your question will be hard to answer as not too many people use older versions, and older versions are unsupported.

That's why I referred to the zMUD 7.20 Upgrade Instructions link because it contains info on whom to email with Zuggsoft for assistance if the provided suggestions do not work. Are you sure you read it?

If you email support@zuggsoft.com and very politely explain your situation and provide lots of details like your current email address, your previous email address, your full name, purchase date, purchase method and/or other things Chiara will likely help you with the new online store system. The main factors here are be polite and provide as much detail as possible. Chiara has to have reason to believe you are the registered user you claim to be.
Personally, I tend to consider anyone that says they have been running version 7.04 for an extended period of time to be using a cracked version. 7.05 fixed many bugs, and in all subsequent versions the bug fixes have slowly continued. Aside from the change in copy protection system there were only bug fixes in zMud version from 7.04 till now. Anyone that choses to run version 7.04 (a beta version at that) must have some sort of perfidy in mind. Email support@zuggsoft.com Get yourself the latest version, and get rid of all those bugs that were just waiting to clobber you. |
