Application error, FAQs dont help

Hi,
Trying to start Zmud 7.05 I get "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)"
I followed the directions in the sticky thread "Zmud refuses to start", however when looking at my services controll panel, the LicCtrl is not running, and when I try to start it I get "Error 1053"
Following the directions on MS website I updated to .net 1.1 SP1, and am still having the same error.
I am running Windows Xp SP2.
Zmud worked just fine until I had to install .net 1.1, I have sence uninstalled it and still receive the same errors.
Please help, thanx.

normally this error comes from:
a) the account that the service is starting under doesn't have permission to
read from a required directory (usually the one where a dependent DLL is
located),
b) the account that the service is starting under doesn't have the privilege
to "run as a service" on the local box, or
c) the application is configured to run in the local logged on user account,
and no one is logged on.

In other words, this is nearly always a permissions issue. I know you state
that it just can't be... I have no answers. From my experience, I suggest
that you look again. Try running the service under a domain account. Log
in as that account to the machine to make sure you have the right to access
the machine and it's resources.

Uninstall and Reinstall Zmud from an Administrator Account on XP, also make sure that the licctrl service is set to start up as a LOCAL SYSTEM service and not for specfic user (as a best guess :P)

Installing .NET might have changed the ADO/MDAC software on your system. You should also try updating to the latest 7.13b version which no longer uses ADO/MDAC for the zMUD startup. Unfortunately I can only support the latest version of zMUD (which is why upgrades are free!)

Nex, I am logged on as admin and uninstalling/reinstalling didnt work, tried that before I went to FAQs, but thanx. :)

Thanks Zugg, I tried the new version and now I get the error 23 0 so I'll e-mail elicense according to FAQs now and hopefully get this taken care of. BUt one thing to note, in my services controll panel I dont have LicCtrl listed to even manually start, I hope thats normal.

I have to say this whole expirence has been annoying. The e-licence folks are trying to work with me thank God, but still no luck. Just bumping this with hopes Zugg, or anybody has any other ideas. Ive run the patch e-license sent me, no luck, ran their diagnostic, nope. Is anybody else running .net 1.1 and having problems? This all started when I had to install it for work reasons.
I thank ya'll for any ideas (Short of a format ofcourse ;) )
