zMud v7.13a and Windows x64.

Hello !

Simple question - when will zMud work on Windows XP x64 Edition ? Its almost a year after first public beta version, and almost 3 months after final version of this 64 bit system.

Maybe anyone knows how to run zMud on this system? I was trying many tricks, no luck. Worst thing, after instaling zMud on fresh x64 system, I have Registry Services*32 running at 100% CPU , uninstaling zMud is not helping anyway.

Crying or Very sad

This is an eLicense problem. They are working on it.

Actually, I just learned that this is a Microsoft Windows 64 problem. eLicense has been waiting for Microsoft to fix a known problem for a while now. In fact, it looks like there are many problems in Win64 currently.

Just because it was in beta for a year and has been "final" for 3 months doesn't mean Windows 64 is bug free. Sounds like you should avoid using it on non-server systems until they release SP1 for it.

I hope this isn't in indication of the lack of compatibility we are going to have with Longhorn.

I thought these program's were supposed to run in the 32 bit emulation. I must say I'm a bit disapointed to find I have spent a lot of money uprgrading to new tech and cant run this program.

Not your fault I know. But I can't be the only guy trying to run new harware and software out ther?

File compression and copy protection programs tend to be *very* picky about things. It's very possible that the problem with eLicense in the 32-bit emulation mode in Win64 is a very specific problem that Microsoft wasn't aware of. And as I mentioned it seems from searching for info on this that there are other programs with Win64 issues to.

You are surprised that the first public released version of software from Microsoft has problems? Gee, I'm not surprised at all. As I said, hopefully Microsoft and eLicense can work this out and Microsoft can fix it in an SP1 patch.

Either that or you'll just have to wait for a future version of zMUD that doesn't use eLicense.

I have just spent the day installing WinXP64 on my machine and sat back for some Achaea wind-down time, and NO zMUD! *weep*. I dunno that I can wait for "months" for a non-eLicense version...but I really don't want to have to reinstall XP32 again, just so I can use zMud.

I had to revert to x32XP for my mudding goodness...tintin++ over the network just doesnt cut it for me anymore.

Although, I did stop getting 100% cpu usage when I disabled DEP in the system applet

I believe Zugg is gonna change the current version of zMud / other zuggsoft software to not use e-license within a week or two, but don't quote me on this cause I could be wrong!
