Every software vendor does this. Whenever a vendor releases a new product, people who purchased the old version within 30 days or so always get the new version for free. This is done because you don't want to stop sales of the old product just because a new product is being released.
After all, wouldn't you be upset if you bought zMUD and only then found out that you really wanted CMUD instead? So you'd do a refund for zMUD within 30 days and just buy CMUD. By offering CMUD for free for people who buy zMUD, we are just doing the same thing but without all of the refund hassle.
This also allows people to continue buying zMUD without having to worry about when the CMUD public version is released.
Anyway, I think this stuff has been discussed before and is already answered in the sticky posts over in the CMUD forum. This isn't the right forum for CMUD discussions, so I'm locking this. |
