Editing preferences from the command line?

I'm not sure if there is any way to edit the preferences from the command line (File-view-preferences-etc)

I was thinking that even if there's no real function for this, the options are stored somewhere, and if I knew where, maybe I could adjust them some other way..

Anyone have any ideas?

If you could edit them externally, chances are they wouldn't register with ZMud while open. However, there are no functions or commands within ZMud to edit preferences.
