Error!

I'm not exactly sure what is going on, but I've used Zmud for about 3 years now and then had to go over seas for the war. Now that I'm back I can't get Zmud to work at all. I can open Zmud and some of the buttons work but if I try to connect to something a box comes up titled "Zmud" and directly under it, it says "Error." with a huge red "X."

It doesn't even seem like Zmud tries to connect to anything because just as soon as I click the connect the X automatically pops up and as soon as that happens I can't even close the program I have to use the "End Program."
I also have GMUD which I hate with a frigin passion, but it actually connects with no problem....so does anyone know what the difference could be, between the two? Its not the licrtl thing cause I've already checked all those things when I was searching for a solution.

Sorry for the invonvenience :(

Seems like something is corrupted. Try hitting ESC on the Character Selection screen to open a blank window. Now, type this into the command line:
#SES host port

And change host and port to the hostname and port number of your MUD respectively. See if it connects without errors doing this.

Kjata I really really appreciate your help! I've been at this for 3 months now and didn't want to ask anything because I wanted to try every help file possible. What you had me do worked! I'm not sure why something would be corrupted because I've reinstalled it like 7 times in order to get it to work right...

but needless to say everything works great now! Thank you very much!

What is corrupted is the settings file for your character. This should be a file with a .MUD extension inside a folder with the name of your MUD in your main zMUD directory. If you haven't defined any aliases, triggers, and other settings, then you can just rename this file to something else and let zMUD create a new one.

If you have settings that you want to preserve, try following the steps described in http://www.zuggsoft.com/zmud/migrating.htm#Corrupt%20Settings%20Files for uncorrupting your settings file.
