I just downloaded zExplorer and, as a first test, asked for the way from Arwic to the acid mine of Fumerole.
1- zExplorer said to use the portal from Arwic to Kehan, then from Kehan to Cragstone. Why ? There is a direct portal from Arwic to Cragstone !
2- Then, ZExplorer said to go to NW Mad Crone portal and to head SW to the mine. Its impossible, because there are here to chains of mountains without any way to cross them. The only simple and safe way is to go on to SE Mad Crone portal and to follow the road to the West.

zExplorer does not currently have any knowledge of the terrain in AC2. So, it doesn't know anything about mountains, water, etc. This is planned for a future version in a couple of months.

If there is a direct portal which has less running distance involved that is not listed in zExplorer, just add it yourself and use the Publish button to add it to the public map database.
