can you gag line before it appears on the screen?

Problem: I have lots of gag triggers (like 50 different) and when the text
starts scrolling realy fast (middle of combat, when I'm attacking monster)
the text is like jumping (lines appear on the screen for a moment (0.5 sec)
could be ever faster and right after that are being remove by #gag command
still this make the screen blink and doesn't look nice. Is there any way
how I could gag lines before they appear on screen? My computer is w2k,
zMUD verision 6.16 and a PII 350MHz computer

Try clicking on Prefs and change the Refresh Amount to 1 to see if that helps.
