Mapper not following across other links |
I'm having trouble with the automapper not following across Other links.
For example consider the following map:
A - B * C - D
.....|........|
.....E........F
Now the connection from B to C isn't east/west it is an arch.
The command is "go arch" in both directions also coded as a direction .a
If I'm standing in room A and click on the map to go to room F,
then the correct commands are issued (e;go arch;e;s). That's
the good news. I am getting to where I want to go, every time.
However, the location dot doesn't show me in room F, it shows
me standing in room E as if I failed to go through the arch
and then went south.
This happens every time I go through an non-standard direction, and
is very annoying since the mud I play has a lot of arches, paths,
gates, etc and I have to reset my location just about every time
I use the mapper.
Any advice on how to correct this would be much appreciated. |

You can create non-standard exit (go arch) just prefix the non-standard direction with the MapDir character (defaults to >) and the mapper will create the new room for you.
So, in your example, when you are in room B, you would type >go arch.
and coming from room C you would type >go arch. You now should have
Two B rooms and two C rooms, just merge them together and you should
be set.
Once this has been created all you need to do is type go arch and you
should be in the next room. |

I've done that. The rooms are there on the map, and when I use the map I can get from one point to another. The map program just doesn't follow through the arch, it displays me as still being on the other side after I arrive. I can reposition where I am by doing a find, but I have to do that almost every time.

Changing my settings from safewalk to slowwalk fixed the map update issue. That has a differrent problem, while slowwalking I sometimes get attacked and can't continue the walk while in combat.

Use the #STEP command to resume walking after combat.
