changing status bar background

I've managed to get my trigger working that sends my prompt to my status bar, but I can't for the life of me get the background of the bar to change to black (which leaves my prompt more or less unreadable). %ansi(yellow,black) just leaves the background as grey, but all the other background colours work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hope sombody gives you the right answer but try this till then:
Unstead of "black" use "blue"

My guess is that zMUD specifically does not allow black as a background color on the status bar. I don't know why, but you may e-mail Zugg to find more about it.
