kernell error

Had a glitch or something, so I unistalled, then downloaded and reinstalled zmud (latest version)

since then i open the zmudinstall, it goes through the motions and at the end

win xp sends the "program needs to close msg"

the details list a kernell error. havent figured out a fix, even after uninstalling zmud then re-installing.

any ideas? i know re-installing xp will fix it but thats a bit drastic =)

this is the file included in the error message.
C:DOCUME~1GATEWA~1LOCALS~1TempWER2C.tmp.dir00appcompat.txt

its a kernell 32dll or something similar.

You aren't giving us much to work with. Since you might not have access to the Beta forum, I've copied this sticky post from it.

1) Zmud files were deleted unintentionally when emptying a folder i hadnt used in a while. Macafee internet security was run some time after, in which there is a cleaning of the recycling bin. Files get "Security wiped" so they cannot be restored.

2) I did a system restore in win xp., and I believe some of the zmud files were deleted w/o the ability to restore them.

3) I downloaded zmud again from the web (as i have my license etc) and ran the installer.

4) the installation appears to go to completion and the "run zmud after exiting installation " appears. This is followed by the zmud window (smaller one prior to the opening of the application)

5) before zmud runs, winxp sends a "this program has encountered an error and must close" error report. I am guessing some files were duplicated/corrupted during the reinstall? As you can tell im in the dark.

I hope this is helpful and a better bug report, as you suggested.

here is what I can tell from the error:

exception information:

code: 0x0eedfade
record: 0x0000000000000000
address: 0x0000000077e73887

image size 0x00000000

Module 2

(similar info after modlue 2 such as image base, image size, checksum reported

Module 3

module 4

module 5
user32.dll

module 6
GDI32.dll

Module 7

advapi32.dll

Module 8
rpcrt4.dll

(there are 48 modules listed)

the following files will be included in this error report:

C:DOCUME~1GATEWA~1LOCALS~1TempWER41.tmp.dir00appcompat.txt

You might want to have a look at appcompat.txt to see what it says. Other than that, I'd recommend sending all this to Zugg (including the messages about the remaining 40 modules and the contents of the text file).

thanks i will do that. those appcompat.txt

files look like exact duplicates from me trying to reinstall zmud etc/redownload. I may have caused the issues w/ extra copies of the same files?

ill pass it along to zugg. thanks
