Was just wondering about Elicense Folder |
I am having a problem of sorts...i emailed elicense since it primarily something they should be able to sort out...but i was just wondering if maybe someone else has or is having a similiar problem. My problem is described below :
To whom it may concern,
In the control folder, there is of course an elicense folder. It lists 3 versions of zMud. The list is as follows
Product Version License type Days left Executions left Time left
zMud 6.16 licensed 0 unlimited unlimited
zMud 6.40 unlicensed unlimited unlimited unlimited
zMud 6.60 licensed 41 unlimited unlimited
I have tried repeatedly to unlicense version 6.16. Each time I have which I believe has been 5 or 6 times it has said it has been successfully unlicensed. But the elicense folder says otherwise. Also I unlicensed 6.40, and it took only one time.
Now I have another problem. I recently downloaded and installed version 6.60 on the 3rd or 4th of this month, and I just downloaded and installed 6.61 today the 8th shortly before midnight seeing as it is the 9th now. Now here is problem:
6.60 asked me to enter my registration code which in turn licensed the product which can be clearly seen in the elicense folder.
6.61 never asked me to do anything. Yet it works. It is also not telling me I am subject to a trial period. It works as if it is already licensed, yet I did not do so.
So I have four questions :
How can I unlicense 6.16 after my repeated attempts to do so? (I never use it anymore)
Should I unlicensed 6.60? (Since I want to use 6.61)
What do I need to do about version 6.61? (Since it somehow is working as if it is licensed even though I know I have not)
Since 6.40 is no longer licensed and I do not use it anymore is there anyway to remove it from the list?
Sincerely,
Bladernr127@knology.net....aka Blade at zMud Forums…. |

I also was surprised to find it didn't ask for my registration code when I first brought up 6.61. Truthfully, I hope this was intentionally done and that it detects your previous license.

Each time that a new version of eLicense is included with zMUD a new entry in the eLicense Control is created. When upgrading to one of these versions, you should unlicense first, but if you don't and you loose a license, it still expires as normal.
Your two other licenses appear to have already expired, so you have no problem. You can leave the eLicense Control as it is. You can't unlicense these two versions because you need to have installed the version you want to unlicense and use it to unlicense. Even then, it is still a bit tricky.
As for why 6.61 didn't ask you to eneter the license again, its because 6.60 had already done it. In reality the last version to update the eLicense wrapper was 6.54. Zugg mentioned that you would have to enter the license again for 6.61 for those users that were upgrading from the previous public version or a pre-6.54 version.
