How to save secondary window setup? |
I have captured all chatting to a secondary window, but every time I load zMUD this window has a command line, status bar, and title on top. I go in and change all this, but I'm getting tired of it. I want that "real estate" permenantly reclaimed. Can someone please tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advance. |

Set the window up how you want it. Click on the window and go to Settings and then Save Settings. You might need to Save Layout too.
As for getting rid of the Title, I'm not sure about that one.

I have done both. I still have to uncheck Caption at Top, Attached Command Line, and Show Status Bar every time I open that MUD file. I don't play any other characters so I can't tell you if it is specific to this file alone or a system wide problem.

Have you tried deleting the .Mud file, recreating it all, then saving again?

sometimes this can be tricky. I think you need to unlock layout first, make your changes, then save layout, then lock layout, perhaps even save layout again for good measure.

One other thing... most sub windows seem to want to save their settings to the zMud folder, and not the mud folder... make sure you get it saved in the mud folder with your other settings.

Moksha,
I have had to import settings into a new .mud file numerous times due to my .mud file becoming corrupted.
Talahaski,
I'm installing a "new" video card, I'll try that after I'm done.
AzCowboy,
How do I do that? I have been saving my settings by bringing up the Settings window and selecting File | Save. The Settings window is what is selected when I do this.
Thanks again. |

To answer for Az, you can either do it manually from outside of ZMud (via your OS)or you can do it internally via the standard Windows Save/Open dialog that ZMud throws your way when you choose Save As...
As for what Tal said, no need. None of that is saved in the layout file so the locked/unlocked status is irrelevent. The layout file stores the 3-button status (minimize, maximize, close) of each window, the stay-on-top setting, the z-order (if not handled internally via Delphi or Windows), and the height/width/left/top properties of each window. The locked/unlocked status has no effect on your ability to modify the layout IF you do not move windows around--you can close/open windows, adjust the height/width, and set the stay-on-top property just fine; I think minimize and maximize both work as well.

Mat, if I read you correctly I've already done that. I have a folder for this MUD (Swords of Chaos) and the .mud file is in that folder. I thought that the layout info might be saved in a different file.
BTW, I am having this issue under both 6.4 and the 6.5x beta. |

For the sub windows... click in the sub-window. Then go up to settings, save as... make sure it's named according to the name of the window, and make sure it's trying to save to the mud directory, and not the zMud directory.
When zMud opens the window, it's going to check the mud's directory for a file named window.mud (where window=the name of the window) ... if it exists, it opens that, otherwise, it creates a window with default settings. |

Ok AZ, let me get specific to make sure I understand your instructions.
I have a window called Comms docked to my main zMUD "toolbar" (with the main mud output window docked below it, if that matters) and my mud file is in the SoC directory. I want to click on the Comms window, then click on the settings window, click File | Save As, make sure that it's saving in the SoC directory and save it with the name Comms.mud
Is that correct? |

Click on Comms window, then click on the 'Settings' menu on the toolbar, choose 'Save as', make sure it saves into SoC with the name Comms.mud

Well, what finally fixed this issue was to replace the video card. Thanks for all the replies anyway.
