Jet 4.0 problems

I just reformated my comp and am currently reinstalling my programs well i went to dl mdac and it worked i then installed jet 4.0 from boths sites and it says
error registering the OCX C;/windows/system/msjetoledb40.dll |

I have the same problem, Im running windows 98, with all windows critical updates, and I used the MDAC scan utility and get the following erros:

I forgot to mention, and can't find an edit option, that when running the install of MDAC it gives me a message before copying files:
Setup has detected that there are System processes using files that setup needs to install. You will need to reboot setup at the end of the installation process. |

I am having the same problem...I followed the instructions here to install MDAC and Jet 4.0. MDAC install goes alright, but the JET install dies with the same error. I am also using Win98.
This from the Microsoft site:
For Computers That Are Running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
IMPORTANT: Before you install this update on a computer that is running Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0, you must already have Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later installed. You have at least Jet 4.0 (SP3) if the file msjet40.dll is version 4.00.2927.4 or later. To obtain and install Jet 4.0 (SP3), visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm#Jet4SP3info
It seems that Jet sp3 must be installed first....however that link is dead...

Cancel that...lol...found the Jet SP3...everything working fine now. I should have read the earlier thread that spelled all this out.
