Drag and drop in 6.40 mapper

I have just changed to zMUD 6.40 mapper and have a hard time with some of its basic fitures.

Firstly do you know how to drag selected rooms and labels together? - any time I try to do this I can only move rooms or labels separately in spite of selecting both of them...

Secondly is there any way of exporting/importing zones or small map areas in 6.40 mapper? Let's say that a friend of mine has a good map of some area that I would like to merge with my maps. Is this possible in 6.40 mapper?

Any help much appreciated.

Ok for your first question of drag and drop, yes it is posible, just find the room and the name you want then place the mouse just above and away from both of them. click and hold down the left mouse button pull mouse in diagonal motion and you will see a box getting bigger make it so that it gets both of what you want inside of it. When you have that let go of the left mouse button, then place the mouse on thr room click and hold down the left mouse button and drag it where ever you want. {:)}

As for your second question you can get other maps if they are made by zmapper and if they are 6.4 you should have no prob but if they are an earlier one zmud comes with a converter that you will have to use, always make a copy first.

re megamog75:
quite nice instructions for the firts question :), thanks anyway
fortunately I've found my mistake - the problem was that I was placing normal Text fields on map - close to rooms - instead of real labels for rooms' prperties (it worked OK in 5.55 mapper, not here)

As concerns the other thing - I do not want to export/import whole map only move one of its small parts/areas betwen two different 6.40 .mdb files. I have got mapped a forest area and want to move it to another .mdb file. Don't bother anymore however.
If it's only possible I will find the way myself sooner or later :)
I simply have had too big jump from 5.55 to 6.40 version...

I have the same problem. How do you make labels instead of text fields?

re Eowyn:
right-click on a room
choose "Label" from the menu (just above Properties), chose a place for label and write the text...

that's it

What if you need to give a label to a room surrounded by other rooms - but don't want to move the other rooms to give space for the label? Is there any way to make a label that isn't restricted to the directions around the room?
Or is it any way to make ordinary text stick a certain distance from a room?

Also, could it be possible to change the label without changing the mouseover of the room? Sometimes I just want to mark a herb load or special door - but I want to be able to find out the roomname quickly too..

Give the room a mouseover hint (other tab I belive in the room properties).

That way it will show the label and the hint when you hover with your mouse.
