List index out of bounds (1) error when opening DB |
I did not have this problem until I upgraded to ZMud 6.40. I receive the error message "List index out of bounds (0)" when opening the database. Some of the data can be seen, but not all of it.
I made a serious attempt at doing all the MDAC research, and also searched through these forums and didn't see anything that helps. I also tried exporting my data to a file and importing it back.
I am using:
WinXP with MDAC 2.7
Athlon 1800XP
512 MB RAM
The system is only 2 months old.
If there is anything I am leaving out please let me know.
Thanks in advance. |

Ok, then. This question isn't going anywhere.
*sigh*
How do you uninstall the latest zmud version back to v6.16 and get the unconverted database back? |

The only way to get back any file that has been converted by zMUD is if you made backup of it.
If you hit ESC in the Character Selection screen and then try to open the datbase, do you get the error? If not, try creating a new database in that window and see if you get the error too.

Yes, following your instructions I still get the error.
When I hit the esc key and open a new database, I create new database.
I use the equipment database template.
The tab opens to the Fields tab.
Clicking from the List tab to the Record tab gave the the error message.
This error is not 100% re-creatable. I tried this 3 times to make sure my sequence was in order and the 3rd time I did this I did not get the error.
My database is still unable to be used, however. The existing database still gets the error. |

And if you don't use a template?
You might want to try a clean reinstall of zMUD anyway. Backup your settings file, map files, database files (not the templates), and character database. Unistall zMUD and delete the remaining zMUD directory along with whatever it has. Then, reinstall zMUD and try to reproduce the error without copying your files just yet. If everything is fine, copy your backupd files and try again.

I have this problem too. I thought that I had fixed it, but when I try to add items to the newly converted 6.16 database in 6.4 it comes back. I was playing around with the DB and I found that when I try to create a new DB using the equipment template when I try to add a record I get the error too. If I don't use a template and simply use some of the default fields I can add a record fine. Seems like there is something in the template that is tickling this problem.

I think I isolated it to the 'ZONE' field. I can create a DB with other fields from the quick add, but when I add the 'ZONE' field, bang... index out of bounds when I try to add a record or subsequently open the DB. Also I can create a DB with just the ZONE field and get the error also.
Hope this helps |

Yes, this must be because the mapper was rewritten and this field must have been hard-coded to the old mapper. You might try e-mailing Zugg about this, but I believe this is already known and probably on the list to be fixed when the Database Module gets changed to use a real database format too.
