non standard mapping directions not working

I want the map to:

- detect 'in' and 'out' exits.
- show the exits as something (like the dot next to the room).
- map the link from this room and create a new room which properly links back to the room I came from.

Currently:

- the mapper does not show an exit on the map leading 'in' or 'out'
- when I move to the 'in' the mapper makes a room new room (indicating a link from the last room with a 'dot') with 'link to' (in 'room properties' 'exits' tab) name equal to part of the room description (I want link 'out', not "Dilandau has been erected. ")

Example:

H:670 M:600 [eb]ql
Dockhand Square.
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. The Ratman stands here quietly. A
sewer grate looms darkly beneath your feet. A cute little humgii is sitting
here placidly, attached to a leash. A pike with the decapitated head of
Dilandau has been erected.

You see exits leading north, northeast (open door), east, southeast (open door)
, south (open door), southwest, west, northwest and in (open door).

H:670 M:600 [eb]in
Dockland Imports.
You see a sign here instructing you that WARES is the command to see what is
for sale.
You see exits leading down (closed door) and out (open door).

I would appreciate any information.

Thanks,

Keeper.
