Health gauge & mapper trouble

i would like to begin by stating that i am using zmud 6.16 and that i do not have any plugins of any sort.
this is regarding a mud named achaea.

here is what a normal "LOOK" command would show

1225h, 1450m ex-Hillwalk Way.
The bright sun shines down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. Wooden
barracks have been built into the lush rolling hills of this part of the city,
providing the soldiers protection. A cool breeze wafts over the hills rippling
the grass and leaves. A granite building stands here, stairs lead up into the
confines of the structure. The body of a dead baby rat lies here.
You see exits leading east, west, and up.
1225h, 1450m ex-

my first question is regarding the (1225h, 1450m ex-) part of the prompt. i wish to make this into a health gauge, and maybe 2nd
gauge for the mana. i have read a post made by lightbulb but i could not get it to work because i did not fully understand it.

my second question is regarding the mapper utility that comes with zmud 6.16
the mapper is really realyl quirky when it comes to finding room names. as you can see from

1225h, 1450m ex-Hillwalk Way.

the room name is nested in the prompt it self. i can only guess that this is why the mapper would not give me the correct names.

currently my mapper would only give me descriptions as names for certain rooms. but because room descriptions change depending on weather and day/night etc. it really messes things up. i saw a few posts made about mapping but like i said i dont understand them he-he-he.

please help =)

yes! i feel like a superhero or something!

guess im not so dumb after all... using the following trigger you can put a carrige return at the prompt
splitting the following line

1225h, 1450m ex-Hillwalk Way.

into

1225h, 1450m ex-
Hillwalk Way.

this means that zmud can now read the room name! joy be to all!

i still need help on that health gauge thing though....

btw i got the info from this very same board. i just pieced together things from different posts and here it is!!

#TRIGGER {^(%d)h, (%d)m ~ex-(*)} {#sub {%1h, %2m ~ex-%cr%7}} "" {nocr|prompt}

tell me how it goes.

Which part of making a gauge is giving you trouble?

well tell you the truth. i would rather not concentrate on the gauge.

what i really want to talk about is the stupid mapper.

at first i thought that because

1225h, 1450m ex-Hillwalk Way.
The bright sun shines down, blanketing you with its life-giving warmth. Wooden
barracks have been built into the lush rolling hills of this part of the city,
providing the soldiers protection. A cool breeze wafts over the hills rippling

1225h, 1450m ex-

had the room name : hillwalk way. nested into the prompt.. that there would be no way to distinguish the prompt from the room name
i thought that this was what made mapper go nuts... in fact im wrong.. mapper just can not find the name PEROID because we can not be specific enough.

my prev post i talked about the following trig
#TRIGGER {^(%d)h, (%d)m ~ex-(*)} {#sub {%1h, %2m ~ex-%cr%7}} "" {nocr|prompt}

which split the (1225h, 1450m ex-Hillwalk Way.) into

1225h, 1450m ex-
Hillwalk Way.

all it did was put a carrige return after the prompt which brought the name to a new line. i THOUGHT THAT this would solve my problem but NOOO! i did not realize at the time that since all the details about the room, including exits , descriptions, and the name are all basicly ONE SINGULAR friggin paragraph that there would be no way for zmud to distinguish between anything. even if i were to specify the lines that these things occur at.. since the mud would have different #'s of lines in different rooms due to different description lengths etc. it would not work at all.

so here is what i propose.. i have asked around and i think this may work....

basicly we do the TAG NAME and TAG DESC and TAG EXIT triggers except we make it so that what fires it off is a COLOR...

yes thats right we use ansi triggers to fire the command. that way.. we can set the mud (namely achaea) to have exits in say.. blue.. and room names in... say red.. and desc in like.. yellow or something...

we can then tell the mapper (using triggers) to use anything labled RED as a room name.. anything yellow to be used as descriptions and anything blue to be used as exits!!

only thing is though .. i have no trig/script experience at all and i have no clue what the syntax/whatever would be to do such a trigger. can someone please help me out? this would really benifit alot of people out there.

i say that achaea has beated mapper for far too long. it is time that we tear achaea apart by ourselves
and feed it to the mapper.

There are plenty of threads about using the mapper on Achaea. Use the Search link at the top of the page.

i did do the searches or i wouoldnt have made the post before at all.
anyways, heres a color trig based TAG NAME that i found on the forums but could not get
to work

#TRIGGER {%e[33m} {#TAG name %1} "" {color}

my prompt looks like this

1225h, 1450m ex-Ascending the southern face of the great rock.
A smattering of clouds fills the sky, lacing it with spiderwebs of grey. You
are now a long way into your climb and can see that the ground is dangerously
far below, certainly at least four or five times that required to spell instant
death should you fall from here. You see exits leading north, up, and down.
1225h, 1450m ex-

the ascending the southern face of the great rock. would be the room name.
is there something wrong with the triggeR? i just cant seem to get it to work. and i HAVE
done my searches and read everything that came up for "mapper" and "achaea" i even did a
"ansi" search and read that.

Sorry, I can't help you then. The one thing that all the posts about it make clear, is that it's very difficult to find the right mapper settings for Achaea. Good luck.
