cant get rid of multipul map windows |
I cannot get cmud 3.22a to only load one instance of the mapper it keeps creating new map windows on start up every time. I have tried to delete the map setting in the setting editor and close out all windows force save and restart but doesn't seem to be working for me this time. Any suggestions?

the unsaid part was that after you put your layout back to how you wanted it you have to SAVE it.

Also go into your Settings and make sure you only have a single Database Object for the map. Delete any duplicate map objects until you just have one. You might need to use the Shift trick again after deleting any duplicates.

still not really having any luck getting this to fix itself.. i open it off line delete all map settings in the settings/package editor and when i reload it works the first time but every time i load after that it loads up another copy of the map...and another and another until i go in a offline session and close all delete all save and restart. it gets the job done but i think there is something else im missing to make this work more effectively.
is there another settings menu that im missing? |

Ok im thinking this is somehow related to the layout save files the *.tbz and the *.xly files that get saved in username/document/mygames/cmud/sessionname folder. Having thought this was related so some setting in my configs i had been trying to see if removing any old config files would prevent me from having this issue. The odd thing i found was if i removed the two mentioned files and did not resave my session layout i would not have duplicate maps open.. although i would have to manually reset my windows, status window, capture windows, etc... This also solved the small issues i was having that i thought was unrelated which is often the layout will not want to update itself after being adjusted until either cmud was minimized and restored or moved with the mouse when not in full screen. I am still unsure as to what is the problem i am having or how to solve it.. i have small workarounds at this point but still not hitting the problem. I hope this helps in some way. im open to suggestions/requests for any information that may help me figure this out..

The SHIFT trick mentioned by Matt in the first response is the same as deleting the *.tbz and *.xly files, so that should have worked too.
If you are having problems with the layout not updating itself, be sure the "Lock Layout" option in the Layout menu isn't enabled. |

ahh that makes total sence... "The SHIFT trick mentioned by Matt in the first response is the same as deleting the *.tbz and *.xly files" but yea if i have the 2 mentioned files it is what seems to make the map load multipul times and also wont let my layout refresh itself. The only way i can get my map to work is by either shift clicking on start up or actully deleteing the two files. If i save it and thus create new .tbz/.xly files all my problems start over again.. and Yes lock layout is off, as well as auto save layout. I am currently playing by removing the two mentioned files and making sure I A: have autosave layout off B: have lock layout off and C: make sure to never save session layout manuely. If i do that my map works fine and i can freely adjust layout as necessary. although i have to reset windows and maps up every time i reload cmud, which is i know a small incovience yet its driving me crazy not being able to figure out why saving my session layout is causing me all these problems. Again I hope this helps in some way. im open to suggestions/requests for any information that may help me figure this out.

The fact that you get multiple maps each time you delete the layout files means that there are still some additional "Map Database" objects somewhere in your settings.
If your settings have multiple Map Database objects, then CMUD will create multiple maps. These maps are then saved in your *.xly layout file. So even if you delete the Map objects, the next time you load the layout CMUD will create a new map object for each map window stored in the layout. So I think you are getting a combination of this problem.
What you need to do is go into the Settings Editor and delete all but one Map Database object. Make sure it points to the correct map file. Now exit CMUD and delete the *.XLY file. Now when you load CMUD you should only get a single map object.
You should also check for multiple Location objects within your session window. Maybe you have also got a bunch of those that are messing with this too. You can use the View/Locations menu option in the main session window to see all of your Location objects. |
