CMUD steals window focus

The title says it all, really. CMUD has been stealing focus from other programs. It happens sporadically, but far too frequently to ignore. Does anyone know if there is anything that I can do to fix this? I am currently running 3.17, but I'm fairly certain it's done it since before my last update.

This has happened for years. It's usually the result of a trigger that is running that does something to display the output that causes Windows to bring the application to the front. We need a specific script and procedure for reproducing this problem to fix it. Nobody has ever been able to reproduce it reliably.

If it helps, it does not seem to happen when window focus is on Notepad, but it happens with infuriating frequency when window focus is on Chrome.

The other application that has the focus should not matter. It's the exact script that CMUD is running when this happens that matters.

Zugg, I know we've all been trying to track this down for a while but a script doesn't need to be running. For me, often times just having the package editor open is enough. Typically I have package editor and I've clicked to give the command line focus. Then I usually go browsing (especially when responding to forum posts), but still nothing definitive. I do know that removing the stay on top option of the package editor helped in the past.

For me, I verified today that no triggers need to be fired for it to happen. It happens even when CMUD is doing nothing at all; no new lines are received (not even gagged ones), and no settings are doing anything but sitting there and waiting for the MUD to tell them something.

So does it still happen when you are disconnected from the MUD? CMUD can't just magically steal focus without something causing it to happen.

Tech is also correct about checking your "Stay on Top" settings in the upper-left system menu of the CMUD windows. It also definitely matters exactly which windows you have open in CMUD. Windows has always had problems with multiple windows marked "Stay on Top".

Could it be something sent from the MUD? Like MXP or telnet negotiations?

For most of my test cases I'm offline. I don't even have a mud connection defined. Usually I'm using new defined sessions or untitled sessions to check/test code.

The windows that I typically have open are the main session window, a docked window for catching channel chatter, and the status window.

I, too, was having this issue after starting to play a MUD again that I hadn't in a couple of years. After getting to the point of screaming myself hoarse at the computer, I realized that I had a non-visible window left over that was the result of importing XML scripts. This non-visible window was flagged to use the network connection to try to connect, so every time the mudserver would time me out and disconnect me, the CMUD window would steal focus as it tried to reconnect.

Removing the "use network connection" flag cleared up this problem for me but YMMV

During a reboot of my favorite MUD, I noticed that it happens every time it says "Attempting connection to..." and again every time it fails.
