[2.37] Beeps

Im using windows 7, so I can't be sure whether this is because of that or because of cMud.

I changed the sounds in cMud and set the Beep sound to a copy of the XP beep (since its louder and I'm used to responding to it). It works fine when #beep is used, but when a tell or other such beeping comes from the mud, it uses the system default beep sound rather than the one I specified in my preferences.

What triggers the beep from the tell?

Its likely a system beep, try changing the default sounds for a beep in windows itself.

Yes that does make it the sound I want, but I think that changing the setting within cMud should be enough to change the beep sound.

@Fang tells beep on their own, it does not use triggers.

If you are using #BEEP then I think you can only play system sounds unless you've changed it here. If you wnat to control what sound is played, try #PLAY

I guess that means the MUD is using MSP to send the sounds, then - the reason it uses a different beeping sound is because it's not using one that's in your preferences, but one that the MUD specifies. Open the script debugger, turn on the raw input/output messages and show us the line and we'll be able to see if that's the case.

If it is, then you need to find whatever sound file the script is executing (the name should be in the MSP tag somewhere) and then change it to whatever you want to play.

I doubt it is using MSP Fang, I reckon it is going old school and sending the BEL character.

Yes, if the MUD sends a BEL character (char 7 I think), it just calls the standard Windows beep...it doesn't play your #BEEP sound. I'll add this to the bug list, but it's a pretty low priority.
