I'm having trouble avoiding a macro

I normally just SPACE before entering commands if I want to avoid macros

like I have a N which does a number of things as well as moves NORTH.

reading bulletin borad stuff - asks for n or next to continue. I (for 4 years and 100 versions) just <SPACE> n to avoid the NORTH alias n. as well as ANY alias. space wont be recognized.... any ideas?
thanks

Watch your language, please. I assume you mean aliases rather than macros. Is this a zMUD issue, or a CMUD one? You talk about using the same method for four years, but CMUD hasn't existed for four years, so have you got the wrong forum?

If this is a CMUD issue, simply start the line with ` (the backtick, not ' the apostrophe) to disable parsing on the command line.

What problem are you having with #walk and what "other map stuffs"? Which version of CMUD are you using?

sorry. I have a bad mouth. I will try and use ` but SPACE was easier

I have used zmud, since 2004, then beta cmud, cmud, cmudpro now (current version)

I did find an alias (mind you theres more than just a few) that somehow was being deleted and just got the name erased and changed to a blank. That got rid of the space issue.

#walk does nothing anymore with either room numbers or named rooms. (works in another character I made with the same map opened.) I cannot find any settings that changed -in map configuration nor prefs

May I suggesting using actual aliases? For example, alias "rn" to "next" (read next, in short form)... Or "nn" or whatever is handy for you. It takes a tiny bit of getting used to, but then there will be zero confusion between <whatever> for next and n for north.

Regarding the problem with movement: what version of cmud are you using?

3.27 - I started another post topic since I got rid of the space issue. (an alias I 'deleted' just had the name of the alias deleted so there was a <space> alias more or less. )

look up about 2-3 topics
