F10 acting like the ALT key? |
Whenever I press F10 it acts like the ALT key (eg I press "e" afterwards it opens the Edit menu.) This makes it annoying to use any aliases attached to the F10 key. Does anybody have any idea what causes this and how to disable this behaviour?
Thanks!

It's a windows thing. Try using the "Macros override menu shortcuts" option, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

OOps, I meant to post this to CMud. Is it still the same answer?

You cannot override Windows-standard shortcuts. These are being listened for on the driver/OS level, which means that their default behavior still happens. For instance, if you created a macro for the Windows key (which I think you might be able to still) you would not be able to get it to not open up the start menu as that's what Windows uses the key for.
Some keys are just not macro'able at all, though. |

Actually, the "Macros override menu shortcuts" *does* work with the F10 key and will prevent the Windows-standard behavior. Just be sure to click on the MUD window to give it focus and then F10 should work without triggering the menu system. At least it works on my Vista system here.
When this override option is checked, CMUD attempts to trap the keyboard stuff at a low level. It won't get around the Windows Start key on the keyboard, but it gets around the F10 problem. |

While we are on the subject... I seem to have problems overriding cMUD native macro settings even though I have checked the override option. So, for instance, ALT-W, which I want to use, is not being overriden and I was forced to use another key. It worked fine in zMUD.
Also (sorry for the piling up) in zMUD to add a new macro key one simply pressed the key combination and it would show up as the name of the macro, in cMUD I've had to manually enter the name of the key in the name box in the Settings Editor. |

In the Settings Editor box, press enter. A box pops up asking for your key combination. It's mentioned in the help and in the UI itself.
