fails to load after moving to another computer |
Hi all,
I've moved Zmud to my laptop and I can't seem to be able to start it on this new machine.
The procedure was as follows:
1. copied entire contents of the original computer zmud folder to the laptop in c:\ZMUD
2. Installed zmud on the laptop on top of the newly created folder as a means to preserve my former settings
What happens is that during the splash screen it loads 'Main Module' after which 'elice40' (or something very similar) shows for half a second at which time zmud crashes.
The LicCtrl service is running. I tried to stop and restart it to no avail. The laptop is similar to the original computer... windows xp service pack 1.
I can unlicense and license back zmud just fine. However, that's about it. Zmud crashes during the splash screen as soon as it tries to load whatever comes after the main module under the name 'elice40' (or similar. just to fast for my eyes to capture).
Can someone please help?

You don't get the splash screen until eLicense has finished, so you probably don't have an eLicense problem. I would suggest following the procedures for Installing/Updating Microsoft MDAC/JET Software. If that doesn't help, you'll probably need assistance from Zugg.

Thanks LightBulb,
I was forgetting about this post of mine.
The problem was not eLicense derived, as I first thought, since I was able to register and unregister ZMud. It was not MDAC/Jet the culprit either, or so I believe, since I had the latest versions.
I was able to actually solve the problem by simply inverting the process. I completely uninstalled Zmud and this time I installed it first and only then I moved the ZMud folder from my desktop computer to the laptop. It worked.
I'm not sure why it did, but that's ok. I'm going however to post a separate message requesting information on which files should really be moved to another computer when doing these kind of installations. I just copied the whole thing. Same thing goes for when i want to create a backup of Zmud... i'm sure some of those files don't need to be copied.
Thanks again for you reply,
