"Other" exits in the mapper

I know how to make other exits through room properties in the mapper, but how exactly do you link them? The mud I play on has a portal which can teleport you to many places and I would love it if the mapper could follow me through rather than me having to manually set my location each time.

In the exit properties tab page, in the top right corner theres a button with a '/' symbol on it, and the help text 'relink link', click on that, then find and click on the room the link goes to.

Hmm is there a something I can set to ignore the first two lines when using a portal with the mapper? It wont work for some reason even though I think I set it correctly. When I use a portal it says

You enter the portal and your body glows.
With a shock you realize you are elsewhere.

which is followed by the standard room info.
