Counting how many values in a variable

Is there a command or function that will return to you the amount of values for a variable? Such as capturing your inventory into a single variable, as the "Advanced zMUD Triggers" article shows you how to do. If I had just captured it to a variable, but didnt know how many items were in my inventory, is there a function or command you can use for a variable to stat how many values it has?

Thanks,
MadBomber

If the variable contains a stringlist, you use the %numitems function:
#SH %numitems(@stringlist)
