At the moment I am using the 6.16 demo, years ago I was using the 3.62 freeware thingie and now when I download 3.62, I can't run the program, and I will admit, I am trying to find a crack for 6.16..all I use 6.16 for is to connect to the MUD that I play, I don't use the special stuff like mapping or anything, and I would use 3.62 IF the stupid thing would actually work. Why can't there be a freeware of 6.16 without the special bells and whistles? I DONT want to use GMUD because it looks absolutely horrible compared to zmud, but I don't have the funds to fork over for a program I will only use like 5% of.

Might I recommend JMC then? If you are so lame as to be a blood sucking leech, then you should just stick to free stuff, like gmud. Don't crack zMUD, the older version doesn't work on Windows XP (which you probably pirated).

How would you like it if your employer decided to just not pay you a week, you'd get quite upset, wouldn't you. You'd quit and seek a new job. This is Zugg's job. Don't take away from him his source of income. Just so you know, the price of zMUD is only 4 hours work at minimum wage. Go get a job for a day and that'll pay for it.

Years ago? And you still haven't saved up $25?
I could sympathize with someone not old enough to cut grass, rake leaves or shovel snow but years ago? If you're disabled or not able to work for some other reason, post back with documentation and I'll spring for your reg code. Otherwise, step away from the computer and go paint a fence for grandma.

Maybe it's time for Zugg to just remove the included mapping capability from zMud and require people to purchase zMapper for that feature...he could take out scripting too. Make an app called zScripter. zMud would still be worth the reg fee just based on the interface and its incredible speed.

Oh it works. I still have it in a folder and open it up every once in awhile to just marvel at the incredible amount of work Zugg has put into this work of art.

Why should there be? Who benefits from that? Registered users certainly don't. If the programmer doesn't get paid, we don't get more bells and whistles.

That's by design. You're not SUPPOSED to want to use GMUD.
Which car would you rather drive? A chevette or a BMW? Which one can you get for free just by towing it yourself, and which one must you pay for?

Look at the reg fee as only covering the basic functionality of zMUD. The mapper, scripting, bells and whistles are thrown in for free, lucky you.

You'll find VERY little understanding on this forum because, most of us DO use those bells and whistles and Zugg has made it clear numerous times that his development time is spent on those products which generate income.

Asking for a free version of zMUD is like asking every user to make do with the current version, forever. You're not just stealing from Zugg if you use a cracked version of zMUD, you're stealing from all of us.

When you go to a restaurant, do ask for a free version of lobstertail, uncooked and with the shell still on? Free filet mignon still attached to the live cow? Maybe you do, but if not, why do you do it here?

This is really sad. It you have been using zmud for years, don't you think its worth paying a small amount for it. It's not like zmud cost much, most people spend twice as much on some PC game that usually only keeps you entertained for a month or two.

I also think it is really screwed up for you to post here asking for a free version and talking about finding a hack. Why don't you log onto miscrosoft's page and post a note on thier forum asking for a hack of Windows XP.

*wonder how long it would take before Miscrosoft laywers would show up at your doorstep*

3.62 will work. All you have to do is go back to the operating system and computer you were using before. Who needs all those bells and whistles in Windows XP anyway? Certainly not you.

Umm, it is my MOM's computer, so I am not allowed to just rearrange stuff. Could have just said right away that 3.62 doesn't work with xps and that would have been enough. You didn't have to go on an on with flaming me just because I wanted a crack to this program. The freeware version from what I remember is exactly like 6.16 without the mapper, and the scripting stuff, so don't go jumping down my throat when I ask for a 3.62 that actually works for XP.

And so you know, I am not a leech like you are thinking, I don't do warez, I wanted to do this because it would just be like me using 3.62. If you would get your head out of your ass sometimes and think "Why do they have a freeware version of this thing on Zugg's own page" then you would just drop it. There is no reason for you to distrespect me for it. As far as trying to pay for it myself, I CANT..I do get money that I could use on it, but my MOM has this thing about paying online which is the only way I know how to pay for zmud, so unless you can't get a guy from zuggsoft to come straight to my door, or if there was somewhere I could go close by to pay for it (and not the mailbox) because she has something against that too..then I will keep seeking a crack.

Just open your own bank account with a debit card. That will give you the functionality of a credit card, but it goes straight to your account. They don't charge you anything to open the account and all you have to do is wait for the card to arrive.

As for 3.62 being the same as 6.16 you must have glasses thicker then mine to not be able to see all the differences. They are nearly as numerous as there are people on this planet.

Also you deserve to be flamed, both on this forum and in person. I will admit to downloading cracks, and even making my own for software that is overpriced, overated, and undersupported. zMud is none of those things so it should be payed for.

Finally if you really want free then you can run 3.62 in XP, but you have to have an IQ over 110 to figure out how to do it. After the way you started this thread I am sure all of us that qualify won't tell you how.
