First, lets define what we mean by "crashing a HD". Do you mean that the hard drive ceases to function or that all of its data is erased?
I'm not quite sure any program is capable of completely damaging a hard drive unless the program exploits a specific weakness of that hard drive. However, programs do have the ability to erase everythign in a hard drive (computer viruses are programs). zMUD certainly is one of those (as is every other program), but it won't do it on its own. Nowhere in zMUD has Zugg coded for it do erase hard drives and it would take a "zMUD virus" to accomplish this, which you shouldn't get if you don't accept settings from other people. This is all, however, on the paranoid side. The truth is that writing evil code in zMUD is somewhat hard and unheard of since it would only affect zMUD users.
I guess the answer to your question is, yes, every program has the potential to do what you are talking about, but in the list of programs that are likely to cause this, zMUD is way down in the bottom.
