Turning off parsing in an Alias

Is there a way to turn off parsing in the body of an alias? I'm not meaning using the special characters, but to effectively send a ctrl/r to turn it off or on?

You can indeed turn parsing off. Of course, once it's off you can't turn it back on because the command to do so won't get parsed.
