lost settings and unable to edit |
I had the unfortunate ocurrence of losing all of my aliases, triggers, etc. I don't know how it happened. I logged onto the MUD and got no autologon. I then realized that all my aliases, etc were gone from the directory in which they formerly resided. Of course I hadn't backed up in a veeeerrrrry long time so it was back to square one :(. The problem now, however, is that I cannot edit aliases or triggers. Whereas I used to get a popup window when I clicked on edit, nothing happens at all now. I'd appreciate any help or insight. I'm using v 6.16 and it is registered.
Thanks! |

Try deleting settings.dok in your zMUD directory.

Thanks very much for the reply! I was unable to find a settings.dok file. However, everything appears back to normal after I deleted the .ini file and restarted the program. By normal, I mean that the settings editor now works and is in its proper place. My original aliases are, of course, still gone. Do you know how/why that happens? Do *.mud files sometims just mysteriously disappear? I know I will be backing it up from now on. :) Thanks again!

No, they, as any other file in your computer, shouldn't disappear just like that. However, I can't think of a reason why they would disappear.
