removing command lines

i swear i posted a question on this a year ago, but i can't remember the solution. one of my characters uses sub-windows when i log in -- for instance he uses a window that captures everything on the gossip channel. at login, each of these windows keeps loading with a command line and status bar, neither of which i need. each time that i remove them and save the layout (i've tried unlocking the layout, saving, and relocking, as well), it acts as though everything goes as it should, but the next time i log in, the command lines and status bars are back. can someone job my memory as to how i can keep these things off of my sub-windows permanently?

Andy

Those particular items aare controlled through a settings file. What you need to is turn off the stuff you don't want on the window. With that window active hit Ctrl-G to bring up the settings editor. Then save in there. If you save it in your main zmud directory then you will have a default setting for all windows that are created with that name. If you save it in the folder for that mud/character then it will only affect the window when you connect there.
