*Preventing* movement on the map

So, the mud I play has Following, Alignment, and Class specific rooms, as well as Private / Solitary rooms. Sometimes, you simply cannot enter a specific room. There's a variety of messages.

Example:
I use the same map for three of my characters. One is a Cleric, one is a Mage, one is a Bard. The Mage cannot go into the Cleric's Guild, because she isn't the right class. ("An invisible force stops you from moving forward.") She cannot enter the Temple of the Deity the cleric worships, because she worships a different Deity. ("Infidel! This is not the temple of your god!") etc.

Is there a way to prevent the mapper from moving in that direction if the messages are received, and stay in the room one was in, prior to attempting the failed movement?

you want the #NODIR command to prevent advancement of the map
the #NOMAP command will prevent certain lines from being seen by the mapper

this only works if you have the map in safe or slow mode though
don't forget to reconfigure the map any time you add mapper based triggers to your package
