problem with & character

i'm trying to do an alias to change the color of my gtells.
I need something like this: gtell &C%-1 because &C is my mud color code
But i think that &C is seen as a variable so there is no change of color.
What should i do?

Thanks

you could also use the escape character, tilde (~) on the ampersand (&)

If you don't use database characters, you can try disabling the & character in the zMUD special characters list.
