Buffer line freezing during text input, cmud client minimizing randomly

hi.
i'm having a weird problem with CMUD.
During gameplay sometimes the window just suddenly minimizes. this kinda sucks during combat to be merrily fighting a long and then have your client close.
also, sometimes the command line freezes and it's impossible to input new text and commands unless i click on the command line with my mouse. also, sometimes i'm typing and the command line stops writing text into the command line until i click on the command line with my mouse.
any ideas what's going on or what i need to do to fix it?
i'm running cmud on win 7 on an i7 machine if that helps.
