Database secretly hates me..

I am in the process of creating an equipment database for the mud that I play. I have struggled with triggers and aliases for a while but I think I know have a very solid script to capture the information I want.
The problem I am having now I believe is with the database itself. AFTER I have captured the information when I go to database interface screen (list) provided with Zmud the screen is dumping the names in my eqname field and replacing it with "0". The default for the variable I created was n/a so I do not believe the problem lies in my primitive scripting. This problem does not occur with all the records and in fact seems to only strike the top 40-100 records. I have checked the impacted records in the records screen as well to rule out any issues with the list screen. In the record screen the records appear the same all other information is present but the eqname has been reverted to "0".
In a bout of frustration I deleted the records with "0" set as the eqname. This effectively purged the records only to have the next set impacted with the same problem. Before I pull out what hair I have left would someone with infinitely more knowledge please comment on this post? :-)
