Have you tried disabling your triggers while you do this? I'm pretty sure it's nothing CMUD is doing. To test you can connect to your MUD in a new session and try that chat command.

It is something CMUD is doing... or rather, NOT doing.
Go to Package Editor, then View -> Show Default Packages. In the Clickable URLs package, click on the trigger and put a tick in the checkbox marked 'Repeat within line.' You can do this for both triggers.
