Package always loads an older dated package. |
So I recently got CMUD and I have been slowly building up my new database of aliases/triggers/macros/maps etc. I have several computers so I took my original package (the only one I have) and copied it to the other computer set everything up and when I loaded the package it's a day old save from when I got CMUD. So I went check my original PC and found that the package had also changed to the same old package. I couldn't figure out what happened so I rewrote everything up again and about a week later I copy the package and rename it for another character on the mud and suddenly both package files are that old 1 day copy. I feel like I am losing my mind or something. Anyone know what is going on? I've searched high and low for the original package and can't find it anywhere.

Click the Edit Session button for your character and go to the Files/Packages tab and it should show you the full path to the package file being loaded.

Right, that's the strange thing though they are all pointed to all the correct package files. The package files themselves are whats strange. They save fine as long as I don't copy or move them. I tried searching for all package files on my computer and then I looked through them all but my original has completely disappeared. Perhaps I am saving it wrong. I'm going to do some testing and see if it keeps happening.

Yesterday I spent all day remaking everything. This morning I wake up and open up CMUD and its all gone and there is that 1 day old version. I'm about to just give up. This is the second time this has happened. My package files have amnesia.

Are you on Vista? Perhaps you have a problem with write permissions on the files?

If you are using Vista or Windows 7, be sure your packages are not being stored in the "Program Files" directory. Windows doesn't allow applications to save files to this directory, and it might be saving them to a "compatibility" area. When installing CMUD, always select the %DOCUMENTS% option for the Data Files location.

That's most likely the problem. Thanks for the help!
