Unknown picture file extension (.png) + zmud freezes

Hello,

I get that Unknown picture file extension error message 3 times when zmud starts up. When it does load, if I try to save the settings or exit the alias/macro/trigger/etc. windows zmud stops responding. Very annoying because I literally can never edit and save my work. If I load the alias/macro/trigger/etc. window, make or edit something, and then simply click on the zmud screen instead of clicking the "X" to exit then it doesn't freeze immediately but eventually does when I try to save it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There's a .INI file named STARTUP or something similar. This file contains the data for the default icons you see displayed when you first open ZMud. Something went sideways with the latest bidding-session results, so basically this file's corrupted. Delete it and let ZMud download a fresh (and fixed) copy.

The above should be the only thing you need to do, but if that still doesn't fix things you will need to delete the character database as well. I think the file is chardb.db or chardb.mdb, and it's found in the main zmud folder. Should you have to delete this file, you will definitely have to manually recreate all your character sessions and reconnect them to your maps and .mud files. None of those files are in jeopardy, it's just that you deleted the strings that tied them all together.

So you were right that the saving is a different issue.

It's quite simple. Whenever I edit any alias/trigger/macro/etc. my zmud will freeze and stop responding as soon as I click the "X" to close the alias/trigger/macro/etc. window. If I open the window, and click "X" right away it works fine. I think it has something to do with my system that I use because if I start from scratch I don't have this problem. As soon as I load my system though and try to edit it, I can't save anything without it freezing.

Any ideas? Thank you.

The Migration Guide. Your .mud is borked beyond ZMud's ability to "just roll with it".

Sorry, I don't understand. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

There's a link to the Migration Guide within the ZMud Support Pages. The Support pages are found within the Support menu above.
