[2.30] Unable to move settings to correct packages

I have tried this over and over. Creating a button in one package and cutting it then pasting it to the new package. It always pastes into the main session package, and I cannot cut or copy it to the package it should be in.

I think what you are looking for would be to right-click your setting (Or class folder if you want to copy multiple settings) and go to 'Export settings to XML'. Then while you have the new package open, goto File->Import from XML

That might be what I -have- to do, but it shouldn't be what I -need- to do. Given that in all other versions I could directly cut and paste settings, I am thinking this new behaviour is not intended.

Confirmed. Well there's a definite bug here. But the proper way to move packages to right click and use the move / copy to options on the menu.

Can someone post the *exact* procedure for this? I created a button, then created a new package and then copy/pasted the button to the other package without a problem. Here was my procedure:

1) Run CMUD, close the Session window. Type:

#BUTTON 1 {Test} {Test}

to create a button.

2) Open package editor (ctrl-g).
3) Select File/New Package. Enter MyTest for the package name.
4) Right-click on the button in the untitled tab and select Copy
5) Click on the MyTest package tab.
6) Right-click on the MyTest module and select Paste

Now I have 2 test buttons on my screen and it all seemed to work fine.

1) Open CMUD
2) Hit Esc to go to a blank session
3) Type Ctrl-G to open the Package Editor
4) Create a new package t1
5) Create a new package t2
6) Click on the tab for package t1
7) Using the editor create a new push button.
8) Save it.
9) Right click on the button and select copy
10) Click on the tab for package t2
11) Right click and select paste
12) You will see the second button displayed but it won't be in package t2.

It appears in the *root* (the true root) of either the t1 package or the untitled window.

Tech, thanks for the good procedure. I did reproduce the bug with that procedure. Very nasty since anything generated at the root of a package like this will cause all sorts of problems. Added to the high-priority bug list.
