It was a part of the theming/skinning component which was removed a few versions ago. The theme engine went because it was based on a very old 3rd party component that caused a lot of bugs, and most people asked said they'd prefer to see it gone to improve stability.

So we can't have it minimize to tray? I personally would like that feature too, rather than be sitting on the task bar.

It's on the wishlist I believe to go back in At Some Point. However, as I'm sure you can imagine, it's not a high priority.

I have it minimize to tray using a 3rd party program called Icon Corral. It's free, and easy to use. Just run it, then right click it (on the tray, of course), choose configure, then click Add, click Executable, type in CMUD.exe, then Ok, then hide, then you can minimize it all you want to the tray.
There are others out there, too, but I just use Icon Corral. :P
