Trigger help

Hi. I cannot do this in the command line, #TRIGGER (You sit yourself down.} {stand}

So, not only can I not enter it in the commandline, but I cannot get it to work through the graphical interface method either and I am doing exactly what the help files tell me to do. (They are rather vague though.) Can anyone please help me?

You have mismatched brackets, it should be:

#TRIGGER {You sit yourself down.} {stand}

I tried that. Did not work. Why isn't it working? Is it impossible to do triggers in CMUD?

Are your triggers enabled? There is a little gun icon to the right of your command line. If that gun has an x through it click it again to take the x off.

Triggers work fine in CMUD...

Also make sure your special characters are defaulted (at least for the command character.) Your command character should be #.

How do I do that exactly? The triggers are enabled. I checked for that. Thanks for the suggestion though. How do I make sure that my special characters are defaulted? Is that something special or just a CAPS LOCK kind of thing. I am so new to this.

Click the 'Prefs' button at the top of the window.

Click the 'Scripting' button on the left side of the window that pops up.

Choose the 'Special Characters' tab at the top of the window.

Click the 'Reset to Defaults' button at the bottom of the window.

Click OK>

The special characters are listed in the preferences. Click Prefs on the toolbar. In the new window that opens, change to the Scripting page on the side, and then the Special characters tab at the top. The default should look like this.

Still not letting me make triggers through the command line or the package editor. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Does Achaea not like triggers?

It's nothing to do with Achaea. What exactly happens when you do #trig {something} {something} on the command line? Does the trigger just not get created? What's your operating system?

The game tells me I am babbling, I don't think so, or Sorry, I don't understand what you have typed, etc. XP OS

That command shouldn't be sent to the MUD. Make sure that parsing is turned on (the computer icon next to the trigger icon in the bottom right corner) and that your special command character is still #.

Trigger now works. Thank you. Now can someone guide me on how to do it through the fancy windows/package editor?

Click the Settings button to open the Package Editor. Click the arrow on the New button and choose Trigger from the list. Enter the pattern (text to match) and the script (commands to send), click Save (don't have to) and you're good.
