Open Control Panel.
Click the "Tools" menu item, then choose "Folder Options"
Click the "File Types" tab
Scroll down to where you see URL:Telnet Protocol. It will probably have (NONE) or (N/A) under Extenstions.
Highlight URL:Telnet Protocol, and click Advanced.
Under the "Edit File Type" window click Edit...
Delete the date in the field "Application used to perform action"
Search for CMUD and select it
Click OK on the "Edit action for type: URL: Telnet Protocol" window
Click OK on the "Edit File Type" window
Close the "Folder Options" window

I didn't find such an option in zMUD, but this should do the trick.

This option doesn't seem to be there in vista, found the place where you can change handlers for registered protocols, but there's no option for telnet there, dispite adding the client with add/remove windows features?

Sorry, I don't know much about Vista.
