map issues - 1.34 |
I tested cmud in beta, and while it works wonderfully with a single character, it's still not ready when it comes to multiplaying.
Last night I had 2 characters on, and in 2 different areas of the mudd. I could not get the map up for the second character no matter what I did. It would highlight like it was open, but it was not.
Then it just crashed.
I closed it out, and went back to zmud again.
Cmud also has freaked out where I used * in triggers, I havn't worked that out yet. |

Using the automapper with multiple characters is not something I would recommend, especially considering that the automapper currently in CMUD was not written specifically to handle things the way CMUD works. It's still just the old zMUD automapper wedged into CMUD. It's better than nothing, certainly, but you should probably wait for the redesigned automapper before you use it on multiple characters at the same time.

I think that was my point Larkin :)
and even tho I closed the map for the first character, when I tried to open the map for the second one, it still freaked. |

One thing that might help is not loading the same session twice, but by loading different sessions (feel free to use the same package files). Just create a new session icon with the same address as the old one. This'll give them different map files which will hopefully let you use two mappers at once. But, like Larkin says, the mapper does still need working on. It's a high priority.

Please read the sticky topics at the top of this forum. One of them links to the Known Issues topic, and that mentions that the mapper will be rewritten for CMUD eventually to handle this kind of stuff.
In any case, even in zMUD using multiple mapper windows was not recommended. I hope to someday have the mapper working where you can have multiple indicators on a single map to show the position of different characters, or to allow multiple map windows to open. But right now CMUD only really works with a single map window, sorry. |

Fang - they were 2 different sessions, even with different package files.
I did read the sticky at the top, and I did know the mapper was being re-written.
But since I had closed the map, and tried to re-open for a different character, I assumed this was outside of the mapper itself ? |
