#fire does not seem to work for triggers set to fire on prompt only
switching to firing on newline, works fine...

That is correct. The way the trigger system works, it can fire either the prompt trigger or the newline triggers, but not both. So I chose to have #FIRE just fire the normal newline triggers. Sometime in the future I might be able to improve that, but that's how it works for now.
