Please help. |
Ok I am at my wits end. I have tried so many things.. spent so many hours.. done so many searches.. asked so many people, and I CANNOT figure out how to get this zMud automapper working perfectly...
After all of that I finally managed to get it to the point where it semi-reliably detects room names by adding a massive trigger with about 20 #IFs in order to make sure its the room name its catching.
But now, most all areas on my MUD have overlapping rooms, for stores, shops, and so forth. The mapper chokes on this! The moment I enter an overlapping room it tries to link it to the room it should have been in, EVEN though they have different names, completely botching the whole mapping process. Shortly after it refuses to map period until I set my location again! The only way I can get it to work properly is by excessive dragging of rooms in order to make extra space for the overlapping rooms. To that end, I ask: What is the point of an automapper when it must be babied every few steps?
I use zMud 7.21. Is there some feature I am missing that would make this a hundred times easier. If not this is something that seriously needs to be added. The map should enlarge itself to fit overlapping rooms instead of just choking and coming to a complete stop. Please offer any advice you have, i am about to pull my hair out in frustration with this. |

On top of that I keep running into the following problems too with it:
-Follow mode does not work at all, the map only updates with my movement while in create map mode...
-The mapper just 'misses' rooms for no apparent reason at times, completely messing up the mapping process.. even when they are not overlapped rooms.
-The mapper just refuses to move at all with me sometimes while in a zone, with 'queue' filling up, for apparently no reason, while in map creation mode, and with current position set. Yet I create a new zone in mapper, a room for my position, set the pointer, and it magically works again...
Is it really this unreliable and buggy or am I doing something seriously wrong.? |
