Cant connect to via Telnet or zMUD. |
Hello fellow zMUD'ers. I cant connect to any mud via zMUD. First I tried zMUD, then I tried to do telnet, neither worked. Ive assumed in the past that zMUD uses telnet to connect, yeah? I can connect via Java client on the mud website. I've tried several muds, which are all up and running. I know people are using zMUD to connect to these muds. And zMUD on another computer on my network is connecting to these muds... I get this message on the status bar: Host XX.XXX.XX.XXX unreachable . Thanks in advance. Im running Windows Xp, sp2.

It sounds like there's a software firewall installed on your computer which prevents "unknown" applications from accessing the Internet. Please check if such a firewall is installed and if you can add a rule that allows zMUD to connect.

Another issue MIGHT be that the DNS isn't resolvable. You might want to check the Use IP Address option (that's found in the Character properties now, right? Been ages since I needed it.)

I have a firewall, but I have it turned off just because it isnt letting me see web pages, even after I tell it to allow. I have the problem solved now though. I had rebooted, scanned for viruses/spyware, cleaned up a little. Deleted my zMUD .mud files, then started from scratch. Thanks guys.
